The HOPE worldwide SEA Region Directors Meeting and Retreat was held from 25 to 27 July 2024, bringing together dedicated leaders from across the region, all united by a shared commitment to transforming lives through service and community development. With the theme “A Call to Inspire,” this retreat was more than just a time for strategic planning—it was a heartfelt call to ignite the passion, creativity, and commitment of those dedicated to serving communities in need.
The retreat was charged with anticipation, as old friends reunited and new relationships were forged. The retreat served as a reminder of the strength and unity within the HOPE worldwide family, a network of individuals passionate about creating lasting change in their communities.

Directors from various countries shared their journeys, revealing how inspiration had been a catalyst for positive impact in their communities. Whether it was through innovative health programs, educational initiatives, or economic development efforts, it was clear that inspiration had been the driving force behind their successes.

A highlight of the retreat was the opportunity for directors and delegates to volunteer at the Rooftop Urban Farm in Kuala Lumpur. Located at the Centre of HOPE worldwide, this farm is a shining example of sustainable urban agriculture, providing fresh produce to local communities while promoting environmental stewardship.

The volunteering session began with a detailed briefing, where participants learned about the farm’s goals, operations, and the importance of urban farming in supporting food security. With enthusiasm and a willingness to learn, the directors and delegates then moved from the classroom to the rooftop, ready to get their hands dirty.

In small groups, they took part in various tasks, from harvesting leafy greens and vegetables to packing them for distribution. The experience was not only practical but also deeply symbolic—each participant felt a direct connection to the mission of HOPE worldwide, as they physically engaged in the work that supports local communities.

As the retreat concluded, the directors departed with renewed energy and a clear vision of how to continue inspiring their teams, communities, and one another. The theme “A Call to Inspire” had left an indelible mark on each participant, reinforcing their commitment to lead with heart and to create meaningful change.
We want to give a heartfelt shoutout to all our delegates who joined us from around the globe, including the United States, Australia, Papua New Guinea, Hong Kong, China, Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore. We are deeply grateful to Dr. Ben Barnett, President and CEO of HOPE worldwide, for his unwavering dedication and support throughout the retreat. Let us all take up the call to inspire, knowing that through our collective efforts, we can create a world where hope and opportunity are within reach for everyone.
